Participation of the Ambassador in the African Heads of Missions’ online Meeting

The Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Australia, Mr. Karim Medrek has taken part, on September 17, to the African Heads of Missions' Online Meeting with the Advisory Group on Africa Australia Relations (AGAAR) on the major themes of the upcoming edition of the Africa Down Under Conference (ADU) to be held, in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ( DFAT) in the month of November 2020 in Perth ( Western Australia).

 

This meeting has constituted the occasion to shed lights on the objectives of this edition, notably in the fields of Mining and Trade as well as Technology transfer in the field of Agriculture with Australia, in an event which intervenes in a difficult context marked by COVID-19.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Australia, Mr. Karim Medrek discussed with the participants the relevant aspects as well as challenges for the holding of such an important economic and cultural event in an exceptional sanitary context, as well the viable opportunities provided by this year's edition.

Furthermore, the President of the AGAAR, Dr. Casta Tungaraza highlighted, among other activities to be held within the framework of this event, the importance of women empowerment in this year's program as the ADU will include the Women in Leadership Forum. Besides, this edition will be marked by the launching of the Australian-African Women Network.

Dr. Tungaraza underlined equally that the ADU will be held with new virtual and remote innvoations to ensure the presence of all members of the mining community regardless of international travel restrictions.

It is worth recalling that the African Down Under Conference has grown to become the largest African- focused Mining Conference outside Africa itself and its importance continues to be reflected through the High Level Presence of attendees annually.
