The Moroccan Culinary Art, under the spotlights, in Canberra

In the framework of the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the Throne Day, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco to Australia launched on Friday, August 3, 2018 the first Moroccan Culinary Week at the Prestigious Hyatt Hotel in Canberra where the public has the opportunity to discover and enjoy, till the 12th of August, the kingdom's diverse tastes in a very pure and welcoming Moroccan ambience.

The Moroccan Culinary Week entitled " Flavours of Morocco" has been launched by the Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Australia, Mr. Karim Medrek and the ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Hon.Rachel Stephen Smith, in presence of Ambassadors accredited to Canberra as well as personalities from the political and cultural fieds in addition to representatives of the Australian civil society.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of HM the King to Australia highlighted that this initiative aims to introduce the Moroccan Culinary Art and its flavours to the Australian Public, for the fact that the Kingdom's gastronomy is among the finest and most diversified in the world, largely due to the country's interaction with other cultures and civilizations throughout history, including African, Berber, Moorish, Arab, Jewish and Mediterranean influences.

He added that the Kingdom of Morocco and the Commonwealth of Australia enjoy excellent bilateral relations and such events contribute to make people come closer, since a common feature between both countries is hospitality, an aspect marking as well Moroccan food events.

For his part, the Director General of Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Mr. Frederick Adul noted that this event constitutes an opportunity for the Australian Public to enjoy the delicious traditional meals and dishes which characterize the gastronomy of Morocco, a country attracting, according to him, more and more australian tourists.

Mr. Adul underlined that for the first time ever, the Hyatt Hotel and most particularly its prestigeous restaurant "The Promenade" is witnessing an unprecedented rush of visitors, notably due to the Moroccan gastronomy's pedigree.

The guests who took part to the launching of the Moroccan Culinary Week have been overwhelmed by the deliciousness of Moroccan dishes such as the Beef and Prune Tajine, Couscous, Moroccan Chicken with green olives and Lemon accompanied with the spectacular Moroccan Mint Tea.

This Culinary week, taking place in Canberra from the 3rd through the 12th of August, will be also marked by the participation of the Moroccan Chef, Hassan M'Souli, widely renowned in Australia, who will be showcasing a large variety of dishes illustrating the richness of the Moroccan culinary art, considered as part of the immaterial patrimony of the Kingdom and recognized unanimously on the international level as one of the best gastronomies in the world.
