Intense activities of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the 73rd UN General Assembly, in New York.

In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Nasser Bourita has read a message sent by His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco to the attendees of the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit.

In this message, the King of Morocco hailed the values and principles embodied by the Late Nelson Mandela and recalled the reciprocal affection that the former Southern African President had with the Kingdom of Morocco.

On the Sidelines of this 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Nasser Bourita held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts in New York.

In this context, the Moroccan Minister discussed, during his meeting, with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Mrs Federica Mogherini, on issues relevant to international and regional cooperation.

In order to talk about the preparation for the World Summit on Migration to be held in Marrakech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation held a meeting with the Envoy of the UN Secretary General in charge of Migration, Mrs. Louis Arbour who hailed Morocco’s efforts aiming at the success of this international event.

Mr. Bourita also met with the President of the AU Commission, Mr. Moussa Fakki to discuss important themes related to the African Agenda on Migration and the reforms to be initiated within the Union.

The Minister has equally met with the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Sushma Swaraj to shed lights on the bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as issues of common interest.

Mr. Bourita also met with the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration, Mr. Kalla Andourao to examine the viable ways to reinforce cooperation between the two countries in the different fields so as to overcome the challenges faced by our region.

Moreover, the Conflict in the Middle East and concretely the Palestinian cause has figured among the themes of discussion of Mr. Bourita with the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas.

Furthermore, the Moroccan Minister met respectively with Salah Al Khalid Al Sabah, Foreign Minister of Kuwait and Abdellah Ben Zayd Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Emirates to tackle the reinforcement of bilateral ties between these brotherly countries.

It is worth recalling that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has equally taken part to the Conference entitled "Global call to action on the world drug problem", which has constituted an occasion to discuss ways to put an end to this scourge.

In addition, he participated in a roundtable on the African Adaptation Initiative which has been adopted in the framework of the 2018 Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP22) held in Marrakech. Mr. Bourita also participated in the Meeting of the Arab League held in the Framework of this Session of the UN General Assembly.
