COVID-19/ Requirements for self isolation

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco would like to recall its fellow citizens living in Australia the current requirements and rules for all people arriving in Australia to self-isolate for 14 days. This vital precautionary measure aims to contain the spread of COVID-19.

- If required to self-isolate, our fellow-citizens are to stay at home to reduce the risk of transmission. In this case, it would be mandatory to avoid public places such as workplaces, schools, childcare, university as well as public gatherings.

- We advise our compatriots to wear a mask on the trip home from the airport, whether showing symptoms of coronavirus or not.

- Only people who usually live in each household should be in the home. In this case, it is important not to receive visitors during the isolation period.

- It would be good to ask family, friends or neighbours to pick up food and necessities for the person in self isolation, leaving those necessities at the front door.

- In self-isolation periods, health authorities advise for sleeping in a room separately from people living in the same place.

- If COVID 19 symptoms are developed during the self isolation period, our fellow citizens are to contact urgently a doctor for assessment or any emergency number listed in previous snapshots.

N.B: Local authorities can force people to comply with self-isolation, with fines of up to $63,000 for those who flout the rules.
