Commemoration of the 104th anniversary of ANZAC Day in Australia

The Ambassador of HM the King to Australia, H.E Mr. Karim Medrek took part, on Thursday, April 25, 2019, to the commemoration of the 104th anniversary of ANZAC Day in Canberra, in presence of the Governor-General of Australia, Sir Peter John Cosgrove, Australian governmental officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Canberra.

More than one century later, the memory of all those, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their families and mates, still lingers on in Australia.

This important national event marks the landing of Anzac troops at Gallipoli during the first world war, and beyond that it is the day on which Australian people remember all victims who served and died in war and on operational service past and present.

According to the Australian War Memorial, the whole Gallipoli operation costed 26,111 Australian casualties, including 8,141 deaths.
