41st anniversary of the recovery of Oued Eddahab

The Moroccan people commemorate on August 14, 2020, the 41st anniversary of the recovery of the province of Oued Eddahab, one of the most glorious pages of Morocco’s history. This date has been important in the completion of independence and the recovery of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity after the period of Protectorate. The recovery of Oued Eddahab has also shown to the world the unwavering attachment of the Moroccan People to the Alawite Throne and the expression of its constant mobilization for defending their country’s main national cause. On August 14, 1979, Scholars, Dignitaries and Tribal Chiefs of the Province of Oued Eddahab went to the Royal Palace of Rabat to renew their oath of allegiance to His Majesty Hassan II, May He Rest in Peace, thus reaffirming their attachment to their motherland.Through this highly patriotic gesture, the inhabitants of Oued Eddahab proved that they will never give up their Moroccan identity by showing to the whole world that the Sahara is and will always remain Moroccan. The historical return of this beloved part of the Moroccan territory to the homeland was the result of a long struggle over decades undertaken by Morocco to complete its independence and territorial integrity, crowned by the recovery of the city of Tarfaya and Sidi Ifni in 1969 and other parts of the Moroccan Sahara following the Green March in 1975.Nowadays, the province of Oued Ed-Dahab has achieved a qualitative advance in the economic, social and urban areas, as it is now part of the poles of both domestic and foreign investment, particularly in the areas of fishing, equipment, agriculture and tourism. The commemoration of the recovery of the province of Oued Ed-Dahab will always be an opportunity to reflect national values that are the basis of the epics of Morocco and to carry on the mobilization to preserve the Kingdom's unity, going forward in the building and development process of a solid nation from Tangier to Lagouira .
