Minister of endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq handed, on Saturday in Touba (194km from Dakar), a message of condolences from HM King Mohammed VI, commander of the faithful, to the new caliph general of Senegal's Mouride brotherhood sheikh Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, following the passing on Tuesday of former Caliph Serigne Sidy Moctar Mbacké.

HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, sent a message of condolences to Sheikh Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, Caliph General of the Mouride Brotherhood, following the death of former Caliph General of the said brotherhood, late Sheikh Sidy Mokhtar Mbacké.

In this message, HM the King said he was deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Sheikh Sidy Mokhtar Mbacké, former Caliph General of the Mouride Tariqa. May he rest in peace.

The picture posted on social media showing a man carrying the body of a child and which was falsely presented as that of a kid from the Atlas region was died recently due to snowfall and the cold wave is not related to Morocco, said the interior ministry on Wednesday.

This picture was published in 2015 by Arab media outlets to show the suffering of Syrian citizens caused by harsh weather, said the ministry in a statement, underlining that it has nothing to do with Morocco. 

Chile’s Senate Approves Resolution in Support of Morocco’s Autonomy Plan in Sahara

 Chile’s Senate adopted, on Tuesday in Valparaiso, a resolution in support of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, less than a week after the National Congress approved a similar resolution.

Therefore, in this resolution, Chilean Senators call on the Government of Chile, as a member of the United Nations, “to support and commit to the UN Security Council Resolution 1754, adopted on 30 April 2007.”

HM the King Pardons 683 Persons on Independence Manifesto Day

 HM King Mohammed VI has pardoned 683 persons on the occasion of the Manifesto Independence Day, celebrated on January 11, Justice Ministry said in a statement.

The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 564:

- 11 inmates benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison sentences.

- 547 prisoners had their prison terms reduced.

- 6 inmates' life sentences commuted to limited prison terms.
