HM the King Extends Condolences to French President Emmanuel Macron over Strasbourg Shooting

HM King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences and compassion to French President Emmanuel Macron, following the shooting that took place Tuesday night at the Christmas Market of the city of Strasbourg.

In this message, the Sovereign said he learned with great sorrow of the news of the shooting, expressing to the French President, the victims’ families and the whole French people his heartfelt condolences.

HM the King also wished a swift recovery to the injured.

House of Advisors Adopts First Part of 2019 Finance Bill

The House of Advisors (upper House) adopted, Wednesday in a plenary session, by a majority vote the first part of the 2019 Finance Bill.

During this session, 45 MPs voted for the first part of the Bill and 24 rejected it, while four MPs abstained.

Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Benchaaboun, said on Monday, in response to the various comments by parliamentary groups in the upper House, that the government interacted positively and objectively with the

amendments made to the Bill by the groups of both the majority and the opposition.

European Parliament's Committee on Budgets Votes in Favor of Adopting Morocco-EU Fisheries Agreement

The European Parliament's Committee on Budgets voted, Monday evening, in favor of the adoption of the fisheries agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU).

The notice relating to this agreement and its implementation protocol, as well as the exchange of letters accompanying it, were adopted by a large majority of the members of this parliamentary committee which decides on EU budgetary matters.

This vote comes a few days after the adoption of this agreement by the Council of the European Union.

Spanish PM to Travel Monday to Marrakech to Participate in Intergovernmental Conference on Global Compact for Migration

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will travel to Marrakech on Monday to take part in the UN Intergovernmental Conference on the Global Compact for Migration (Dec. 10-11).

Sanchez will deliver a speech at the conference, the Spanish government's presidency said on Saturday.

The conference is aimed at formally adopting the Global Compact for Migration, as agreed by the Member States of the United Nations on the 13th of July, 2018.

According to the United Nations, no less than 150 member states will take part in the two-day event.

UNGA Reaffirms Support to Political Process Aimed at Settling Moroccan Sahara Issue

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted on Friday, without a vote, a resolution approved by the 4th Committee in last October, which reiterates support to the UN-led political process aimed at settling the regional conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

The resolution thus supports the political process based on the Security Council resolutions adopted since 2007, with a view to reaching a "fair, sustainable and mutually acceptable" solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue and praises efforts made in this regard by the UN Secretary General and his personal envoy.

Morocco-Mauritania Forum: CGEM Head to Lead Large Delegation

President of the Moroccan Employers' Association (CGEM), Salaheddine Mezouar, will lead a large delegation of economic operators that will participate in the economic forum Morocco-Mauritania, scheduled for December 16-18 in Nouakchott.

The Forum, co-organized by the CGEM and the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, will explore business and investment opportunities and boost trade between the private sectors of the two countries, CGEM said in a statement.

On this occasion, the Moroccan delegation will hold B2B meetings and visit Nouadhibou’s free zone.
