Morocco, Thailand Discuss Means to Step up Bilateral Cooperation

State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mounia Boucetta, held talks here on Tuesday with Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at Thailand’s National Assembly, Bilaibhan Sampatisiri, which focused on the means to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

These talks are part of ongoing efforts aimed at giving new impetus to relations between Morocco and Thailand, Boucetta told MAP, adding that the two countries discussed the means to step up cooperation in several areas, including tourism, training, new technologies, research and development.

In an article published on the website of the daily paper "The Salt Lake Tribune" under the title "United front with Morocco supports security across the globe", Utah and Idaho states Attorneys General, Sean Reyes and Lawrence Wasden, respectively, said that "nowhere in the region do our interests and our values coincide more than they do in Morocco”.

'Financial Times' Enumerate 5 Reasons to Live in Casablanca

British daily "Financial Times" has enumerated five reasons to live in the city of Casablanca which has become "Africa's financial powerhouse".

In an article authored by Simon Brandon, the daily gave the first reason as been "the establishment in 2010 of Casablanca Finance City (CFC), a business hub formed from a public-private partnership, located on the site of a defunct airport."

Secondly, the daily went on to say, "there are tax breaks on offer for financial companies and their employees."

MAP, Sputnik Ink Agreement to Foster Cooperation

Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) and Russian news agency Sputnik signed on Monday in Rabat an agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Signed by MAP Managing Director, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, and Head of International Projects Center at SPUTNIK, Vasily Vladimirovich Pushkov, the agreement aims at establishing professional relations and fostering cooperation between the two agencies in Russia and Morocco.

HRH Princess Lalla Meryem chaired, Monday at the Assouna mosque in Rabat, a religious evening in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the passing of late King Hassan II.

The religious ceremony was marked by the declamation of the Holy Quran and panegyrics of Prophet Mohammed PBUH.

Prayers were declaimed for the late Sovereigns HM Hassan II and HM Mohammed V.

Prayers were also declaimed for God to preserve and assist HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and to grant him success in his actions and initiatives.

Morocco, Largest Recipient of France's AFD Financing in the World

Morocco remains the largest recipient of funding from the French Development Agency (AFD), with a total amount of 2.9 billion euros as of 15 October 2018, said, Thursday in Paris, the Country manager Morocco, Africa Department within AFD, Parcal Collange.

In 2017 alone, AFD allocated 431 million euros for the financing of projects in Morocco, Collange said at a meeting with a delegation of Moroccan journalists, currently on a visit to France.

EU Reinforces Support to Morocco to Address Irregular Migration: €148 Million Mobilized in 2018

The European Union (EU) has reinforced its support to Morocco to address irregular migration by bringing the total amount mobilized in 2018 under the EU emergency Trust Fund for Africa to € 148 million.

"The additional funding adopted under the EU emergency Trust Fund for Africa will bring the overall migration-related assistance to Morocco to €148 million in 2018," according to a press release of the European Commission, published on Friday.

HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, will chair Monday at the Mohammed V Mausoleum in Rabat, a religious evening on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the passing away of the late HM King Hassan II, announces a statement by the ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.

This religious evening will be broadcast live on national radio and TV stations after the Maghreb prayer.

Morocco is making great efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the health sector by 2030, said, Thursday in New Delhi, Health minister, Anass Doukkkali.

"Morocco's Health ministry is fully committed to achieving these Goals. Last September, it launched the "Health Plan 2025", which sets out the major actions to be taken to improve the health of mothers, newborns and adolescents," said Doukkali, who was speaking at the 4th Forum of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH).

AfDB Loans Morocco over 96 mln USD to Promote Employment

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved, on Thursday in Abidjan, a loan of 96.6 million USD for the implementation of a results-based program aimed at improving access to employment in Morocco (PARAAE), according to the African financial institution.

"Morocco is one of the first African countries to use this innovative financing instrument that makes the disbursement cycle conditional on achieving results, while reducing transaction costs," says an AfDB press release.

Minister of Agriculture Holds Talks in Abidjan with AfDB President

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Waters and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch, held talks Wednesday in Abidjan with President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinuwumi Adesina.

The discussions focused on the initiative for the Adaptation of African Agriculture (AAA), led by Morocco and presented at the COP22 in Marrakech, said a statement from the ministry of Agriculture.

At this meeting, which was attended by Côte d’Ivoire’s minister of Agriculture, Sangafowa Coulibaly, the two sides discussed the means to implement this initiative.

Morocco, Mauritania Ink Agreement on Hydrocarbons and Mining

Morocco and Mauritania signed, on Wednesday in Nouakchott, a partnership agreement in the field of hydrocarbons and mining.

This agreement was signed by Director General of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mining (ONHYM) Amina Benkhadra and  Director General of the Mauritanian Company for Hydrocarbons and Mining (SMHPM) Fall N'Guissaly.

This agreement aims to strengthen the sharing, between Morocco and Mauritania, of expertise, training and know-how in the field of hydrocarbons, Benkhadra told MAP.
