4th Morocco-Spain Parliamentary Forum Opens in Madrid

The 4th Morocco-Spain Parliamentary Forum kicked off, Tuesday in Madrid, with the participation of a large Moroccan delegation led by Speakers of the two Houses of Parliament, Habib el Malki and Hakim Benchemas.

The Spanish parliamentary delegation to the Forum is chaired by Speaker of the Senate (upper House), Pio Garcia-Escudero, and Congress of Deputies Speaker (lower House), Ana Pastor.

Morocco and the European Union (EU) will start, Friday in Rabat, negotiations for the renewal of the fisheries partnership protocol, said minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, 

The announcement was made at a meeting held Thursday in Rabat between Morocco and the EU. It took place in the presence of minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, secretary of State for Fisheries, Mbarka Bouaida, and head of the EU delegation in Morocco, ambassador Claudia Wiedey.

Speaker of the House of Advisors (upper house) Hakim Benchamach said, Wednesday in Rabat, that Morocco and Indonesia share several civilizational, cultural, spiritual and geostrategic values to establish a model partnership between the two countries.

During talks with a delegation of the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia, led by Zainout Tawhid Saadi, Benchamach praised fraternal relations and fruitful cooperation between the two countries and peoples, based on the values of active solidarity, strong synergy, and mutual respect and consideration.

The latest developments in the national issue and the multidimensional partnership with the European Union (EU) are on the agenda of the mission currently being undertaken by the Morocco-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee to the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg.

A statement by the Committee said that the parliamentary delegation will discuss with many influential MEPs subjects of common interest, particularly the Morocco-EU fisheries agreement, as well as the Kingdom’s major development projects and reforms in the political, economic and social areas.

France To Take Part in 13th SIAM on April 24-29 in Meknes

France will participate in the 13th edition of the International Agriculture Fair (SIAM 2018) scheduled on April 24-29 in Meknes, Business France, a national agency at the service of the French economy's internationalization, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco (CFCIM) announced on Tuesday.

During this 10th consecutive participation, nearly 20 French companies will be present at the French Pavilion, located in the heart of the exhibition's international area, to showcase their know-how and expertize, said Business France and CFCIM in a joint statement.

Morocco and Côte d'Ivoire signed, Tuesday in Rabat, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of housing and strengthen the exchange of experiences and expertise in this area.

Signed by Minister of National Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, Abdelahad Fassi Fihri, and Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Construction, Housing and Urbanism, Claud Isaac De, the agreement is aimed at developing the transfer of know-how and expertise and the sharing of information and best practices in the areas of housing and urban planning.

Morocco's bid to host the 2026 football World Cup is "very good" by FIFA standards, Minister of Youth and Sports, Rachid Talbi Alami, said Tuesday in Rabat.

Speaking at the House of Advisors (upper house), the minister said that the Moroccan bid, which meets all the requirements, consists of 40,000 pages dealing with 24 issues relating to infrastructure, human rights, trade and taxation.

Morocco and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed, Monday in Dubai, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve the skills of human resources.

The MoU was signed by deputy minister for Administration and Public Service Reform, Mohammed Benabdelkader and Emirati minister of Higher Education and Advanced skills, Ahmad Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, on the margins of the eighth Human Resources International Conference.

Morocco Takes Part in AFRICOM Meeting on Counterterrorism

A high-level delegation from the FAR staff and the foreign affairs ministry is taking part in Abuja in a meeting of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) on counterterrorism.

Organized by AFRICOM and Nigeria, this meeting opened on Monday and will span several days with the participation of fifty countries from Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The Moroccan delegation will give, on this occasion, a presentation on the protection of civilian populations as part of peacekeeping operations.

Morocco Elected to Three UN Bodies

The Kingdom of Morocco was brilliantly elected, Monday, by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to three important bodies.

These include the executive Board of UN-Women, the executive Board of UNICEF and the Commission for social development.

This triple election bears witness to the diplomatic influence of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI. It also recognizes the Kingdom's economic and social achievements, notably through the large-scale social project the "National Initiative for Human Development" (INDH).

South Africa will support Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup, President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Danny Jordaan said on Monday.

South Africa will bring "unconditional support" to Morocco for hosting the World Cup for the second time in Africa, said Jordaan in a statement, adding that it would be great for Africa to organize this planetary competition for the second time.

Morocco's Dam Storage Capacity Stands at 68.3% by April. 16

Dam's storage capacity in Morocco stands at 68.3% as of April. 16, which is a total storage of 10.3 billion cubic meters (m3), according to the State Secretariat for Water.

This level is higher than the one reported during the same period in 2017, when stored volumes of water in dams stood at 8.5 billion cubic meters, which is a storage capacity of 56.2%, the source added.

Morocco's 2026 World Cup bid committee receives Monday the 5 members of the Task Force as well as members of the FIFA administration for a 3-day inspection in order to assess the capacity of the kingdom to host the 2026 World Cup.

To this end, the Task Force will visit several cities in the Kingdom on April 17-19 as well as stadiums, training camps, fan fests sites and media centers, in addition to other locations linked to the organization of the competition, said the bid committee in a statement.
