Morocco Signs Agreement in Bali to Host WBG-IMF Annual Meetings in 2021

An official signing ceremony for the 2021 Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) to be held in Morocco took place Sunday in Bali.

The signing ceremony took place following the end of the annual meetings of the two international institutions in Bali.

The agreement was initialed by WB Group President Jim Yong Kim, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Morocco’s Economy and Finance Minister Mohamed Benchaaboun.

Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Khalihenna Ould Errachid, held talks Thursday in Rabat with Ecuadorian member of the Andean Parliament Patricia Teran Basso.

Talks focused on the latest developments of the Sahara issue at the United Nations and the Security Council as well as on the evolution of this issue in the light of efforts made by the UN Secretary General and his personal envoy in the region in order to relaunch the negotiations process, CORCAS said in a statement.

The Central Bureau of Judiciary Investigations (BCIJ) has dismantled, since its creation, 57 terrorist cells, including 8 cells in 2018, Director of BCIJ, Abdelhak Khiame, said.

These figures bring the total number of the dismantled cells in Morocco, since 2002, to 183 structures that projected terrorist actions in the Kingdom, Khiame pointed out in an interview with MAP.

Three aircrafts carrying 1.8 ton of humanitarian aid that will be sent to the Gaza Strip by land through the Rafah border crossing landed on Monday evening in the east of Cairo.

This humanitarian aid is sent upon the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI in order to be delivered to the Palestinian people.

The reception of this aid was supervised by Morocco's ambassador to Egypt, Ahmad Tazi, who is also the Kingdom's permanent representative to the Arab League.

Morocco's Net International Reserves Up 0.5%

Morocco's net international reserves amounted to 224.6 billion dirhams until September 28, 2018, recording a 0.5% year-on-year increase, Morocco's central bank (Bank Al-Maghrib) said.

During the week of September 26-October 3, Bank Al-Maghrib injected 73.8 billion dirhams.

As for the interbank rate, it has reached 2.28%, the source added in a press release.

During the same period, the Dirham appreciated by 0.7% against the Dollar and depreciated by 1% against the Euro.
