Joint Communiqué Following the Official Working and Friendship Visit to Morocco by Nigerian President (Full Text)

The kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Nigeria issued a joint communiqué following the official working and friendship visit to the Kingdom by Nigerian President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, on June 10-11.

Here is the full text of the communiqué:

"At the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, undertook an official working and friendship visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, on 10 and 11 June 2018 ; the first visit by a Nigerian Head of State.

Nigerian President Visits Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Muhammadu Buhari visited, on Sunday, the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates (religious preachers) in Rabat.

Upon his arrival at the Institute, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, who is on an official working and friendship visit to Morocco at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI, was notably greeted by minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, and head of the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates, Abdessalam Lazaâr.

AfDB Loans Morocco 200 mln Euros to Fund Support Program for Agricultural Industries

The African Development Bank (AfDB) loaned Morocco 200 million euros (around 2.2 billion dirhams) to fund the support program for agricultural industries' inclusive and sustainable development, said the ministry of economy and finance.

The loan agreement was inked, on Friday in Rabat, at a ceremony chaired by economy and finance minister Mohamed Boussaid, in the presence of Leila Mokadem Farah, resident representative of AfDB national bureau in Morocco and Nezha El Ouafi, secretary of state for sustainable development, it said in a statement.

HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, hosted, on Sunday at the Rabat Royal Palace, an official Iftar in honour of Nigerian President, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari, and his accompanying delegation.

The Iftar (fast-breaking meal) was attended by the Head of Government, Speakers of the two Houses of the Parliament, HM the King's Advisors, government members, presidents of the constitutional bodies, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco, as well as several civil and military figures.

HM King Mohammed VI held, Sunday in the Rabat Royal Office, tête-à-tête talks with President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari.

Upon their arrival at the Royal Office, HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, and the Nigerian President reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard that paid the honours.

At the entrance of the Royal Office, President Buhari was invited to the traditional offering of milk and dates.

HM King Mohammed VI offered on Wednesday in Rabat an Iftar in honour of Chaiperson of the African Union Commission (AU), Moussa Faki Mahamat, who is on a visit to the Kingdom.

The Iftar (fast-breaking meal) was also attended by HM the King's advisor, Fouad Ali El Himma, members of the government, Chief Strategic Advisor to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mohamed Hassan Labate, members of the delegation accompanying Faki Mahamat and several other figures.

Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat commended Morocco's full support and significant contribution, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to the various vital projects and programs undertaken by the Union.

This came in a meeting between head of government Saâd Eddine El Othmani, and Moussa Faki Mahamat , who is on a working visit to Morocco.

Four Moroccan Aircrafts Carrying Humanitarian Aid sent to Palestinian People Land in Egypt

Four military aircrafts carrying the Moroccan humanitarian aid sent to the Palestinian people landed on Tuesday in Cairo.

The humanitarian aid sent upon the high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI will be delivered to Gaza by land.

The reception of this aid was supervised by Morocco's ambassador to Egypt, Ahmad Tazi.

This operation includes the setting up of a field hospital of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in Gaza, the delivery of 5,000 blankets, 25 tons of essential medicines, as well as foodstuff (113 tons) by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

HM King Mohammed VI chaired, on Tuesday at the Rabat Royal Palace, a meeting dedicated to the issue of water, the Royal Office said in a statement.
On October 2, 2017, HM King Mohammed VI chaired a council of ministers in which the Sovereign drew attention to the problem of the scarcity of drinking and irrigation water in rural zones and mountains and gave his instructions to the Head of Government to chair a committee tasked with dealing with this matter in order to find appropriate solutions, the statement said.

2018 Marhaba Operation Kicks off on Tuesday

Under the presidency of HM King Mohammed VI, the operation of receiving Moroccan expatriates dubbed "Marhaba" starts on Tuesday and runs until 15 September 2018, said the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

The Foundation, which contributes to the implementation and the organization of this operation, has set up 20 rest areas in Morocco and abroad to respond to the intensity of maritime and air traffic regularly recorded on this occasion, the same source pointed out in a statement.

Moroccan Economy Grew 4.1% in 2017

The High Commission for Planning (HPC) states that the Moroccan economy grew by 4.1% in 2017 compared to 1.1% in 2016, mainly due to the significant increase in agricultural activity.

In its briefing note on the provisional national accounts for 2017, the HPC notes that this rise was also driven by household final consumption and foreign demand, within controlled inflation and a reduction in the national economy's financing requirement.

Morocco’s Trade Deficit Widens by 15.8% in April

Morocco's trade deficit widened by 15.8% by the end of April 2018, the Exchange Control Office said.

Morocco’s trade gap widened to 41.3 billion dirhams by the end of April 2018 against 35.7 billion dirhams a year earlier, the source pointed out in a release, noting that the coverage rate of imports by exports decreased from 77.2% in Apr. 2017 to 76% in Apr. 2018.

Imports amounted to 172.1 billion Dirhams (+ 9.9%), while exports grew by 8.2% to 130.8 billion Dirhams, according to the same source.

Moroccan minister of Employment and Professional Integration Mohamed Yatim held, in Geneva, talks with his Saudi, Omani, and Azerbaijani counterparts, Ali Bin Nasser Al-Ghafiss, Abdallah Al-Bakri and Abdallah Ibn Nacer, respectively.

Last Batch of Moroccan Humanitarian Aid to Palestinian People Arrives in Jordan

Two military aircraft carrying the last batch of humanitarian aid sent by Morocco to the Palestinian people landed Saturday at Marqa military airport, east of Amman (Jordan).

Jordan's charity body will deliver this aid, which consists of basic foodstuffs, to the West Bank.

Previously, four military aircraft loaded with humanitarian aid from Morocco to the Palestinians had arrived at Marqa military airport.
