Interior Ministry Holds Broad Meeting To Assess Implementation of Extensive Regionalization Project

Pursuant to the High Royal orientations aimed at fully implementing the large-scale extensive regionalisation project through providing the effective support for this fundamental stage of Morocco's regional life, a broad meeting was held, Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, in the presence of officials from this department and the Ministry of Economy and Finance as well as members of the Association of Moroccan Regions and Presidents of the Kingdom's Councils of Regions.

The Moroccan football team of local players won the title of the 5th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN Morocco-2018) after defeating Nigeria (4-0), on Sunday at the Casablanca Mohammed V sports complex.

The first Moroccan goal was scored by Zakaria Hadraf seconds before the referee blows the whistle for the end of the first half-time, while the second goal was scored by Walid El Karti at the 61st minutes of the game. The third and fourth goals were scored by Hadraf and Ayoub El Kaabi respectively.

Morocco has some 16,000 historic sites in addition to a rich and diverse intangible heritage, Minister of Culture and Cooperation, Mohamed Laaraj, said Tuesday in Rabat.

Speaking at the House of Advisors (upper house), the minister noted that cultural tourism remains the main reason to visit Morocco.

Morocco’s cultural heritage is scattered over the different regions of the Kingdom, he noted, adding that 9 Moroccan sites are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Morocco Dismantles Seven-Member Terror Cell

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) dismantled, on Thursday, a terror cell made up of seven extremist supporters of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS), who were operating in the cities of Tangier and Meknes, the Interior ministry announced.

Initial investigations revealed that the cell, which planned to join a branch of ISIS, was supporting and disseminating the propaganda of this terrorist group, the ministry pointed out in a statement, adding that the cell intended to attack people and property.
