HM the King Appoints New Walis and Governors at Territorial and Central Administrations, FEC Director and AUC Director

HM King Mohammed VI appointed, Friday at the Rabat Royal Palace, new walis and governors at the level of territorial administration and central administration, as well as governor, director of community equipment fund (FEC) and governor, director of Casablanca Urban Agency (AUC).

They are:

Walis at the territorial administration:

Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech.

Abdessalam Bekrate, Wali of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, governor of the Beni Mellal province.

HM the King Receives Several Foreign Ambassadors in Rabat

HM King Mohammed VI received, Friday at Rabat's royal palace, several foreign ambassadors, who came to present their credentials to the Sovereign as plenipotentiary and extraordinary ambassadors of their countries to the Kingdom.

They are:

- Mohamed Lamine Abi Cheikh El Hadrami Cheikh Mohamed Fadel, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania,

- Jean Marie Mowelle, Ambassador of the Republic of Congo,

- Ziad Atallah, Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic,

- Ali Salem Obeid Ben Ouaniss Al Kaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates,

Morocco's El Allali Appointed Deputy SG of Arab League for Communication and Media

The Moroccan diplomat Badreddine El Allali was appointed deputy secretary-general of the Arab States League for communication and media.

This appointment was endorsed by a decision of secretary-general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.

El Allali, who joined the pan-Arab organization in 2015, was previously deputy SG for social affairs.

He also served as HM the King's ambassador to Malaysia and Australia, and director of the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies.

Morocco Reaffirms Its Firm Will to Actively Participate in ATU Initiatives

Morocco reaffirmed, Friday in Nairobi, its firm will to actively participate in the initiatives launched by the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), a continental body to which the Kingdom has returned on Tuesday.

The ATU, the specialized agency of the African Union (AU) in the field of telecommunications / ICT, announced officially on Tuesday in Nairobi, the return of Morocco to it.

Beijing International Book Fair: Morocco's Fathallah Oualalou Wins Special Book Award of China

Morocco's Fathallah Oualalou has won the Special Book Award of China as part of the 25th edition of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) for his book "China and us: Responding to the second overtaking".

Oualalou was among fifteen foreign authors, translators and publishers who were recognized Tuesday for introducing Chinese culture to the world at a reception held in Beijing in the presence of Morocco's ambassador to China, Aziz Mekouar.

HM the King Receives Congratulatory Messages from Islamic World Leaders on Eid Al Adha

HM King Mohammed VI has received several messages of congratulations from the leaders of the Arab and Islamic world on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

The leaders wished good health, happiness and long life to the monarch and to the Royal Family.

The leaders also wished further prosperity and progress for Morocco and the Moroccan people under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

HM the King Pardons 889 People on Eid Al Adha

On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, HM King Mohammed VI granted his pardon to 889 people sentenced by the different Moroccan courts, said a statement by the Justice ministry.

The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 844 and are divided into:

- 188 inmates who benefited from pardon over their remaining prison terms.

- 646 prisoners who had their prison terms reduced.

- 04 inmates who had their death penalty commuted to life imprisonment.

- 06 inmates who had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.

HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, to Perform Eid Al Adha Prayer in Ahl Fez Mosque in Rabat

HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, will perform the Eid Al Adha prayer on Wednesday Du Al-Hijja 10, 1439 hegira, corresponding to August 22, 2018, at the Ahl Fez mosque in Meshuar in Rabat, the ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery said.

The prayer will be aired by national radio and TV channels starting 10.30 a.m.

HM King Mohammed VI received, Monday at Rabat Royal Palace, Mohamed Benchaaboun whom the Sovereign appointed minister of Economy and Finance, according to a statement by the Royal Office.

"In accordance with the provisions of Article 47 of the Constitution, and on the proposal of the head of government, HM King Mohammed VI received this Monday at Rabat Royal Palace Mr. Mohamed Benchaaboun whom the Sovereign appointed minister of Economy and Finance," the statement says.

During this audience, Mohamed Benchaaboun was sworn in before HM the King.

Morocco, South Australia Examine Cooperation Opportunities in Different Sectors

The Moroccan ambassador in Canberra, Karim Medrek, held a series of meetings with South Australian officials on 15-16 August on opportunities for bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

Morocco is taking part in the 14th edition of the Panama Book Fair which opened Tuesday in the Panamanian capital and will run until Aug. 19.

Growth Rate to Stand at 3.2% in 2019

The national growth rate will stand at 3.2% and the deficit at 3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019, wrote the note on the 2019 draft appropriation bill, elaborated by the Head of Government's office.

The note also provides for the continuation of the dynamics of the non-agricultural sectors, which will post a value added growth of 3.7%, versus 3.3% in 2018, provided that the price oil barrel is 68 dollars and cereal crop reaches 70 million quintals.
