Morocco's Accession to Pan-African Parliament Formalized

Morocco's accession to the Pan-African Parliament (PAP, based in South Africa) was formalized at the opening of the sixth ordinary session of the Pan-African legislative institution on Monday in Midrand, near Johannesburg.

Five MPs representing the Justice and Development Party (PJD), the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Constitutional Union (UC), the Istiqlal Party (PI) and the Popular Movement (MP) were sworn in alongside 73 parliamentarians from other countries.

17th Gymnasiade Opens in Marrakech

The 17th Gymnasiade, an international major school sport event, kicked off Thursday evening at Marrakech's Grand Stade.

Gymnasiade, which is organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI until May 9 in Marrakech and Casablanca, is bringing together some 3000 athletes aged between 15 and 18 years from 58 countries.

Morocco is represented in this event by a delegation composed of 252 students, 56 coaches and 7 sports technicians.

OIC Supports Morocco's Bid to Host 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed, Sunday in Dhaka, its support for Morocco’s bid to host the 2026 FIFA world cup.

The decision to back the Moroccan bid was unanimously approved at the 45th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC.

Morocco is represented in this session, held under the theme "Islamic values for sustainable peace, solidarity and development," by secretary of State to the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mounia Boucetta.

Morocco, Greece Discuss Means to Promote Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and Greek secretary of State for European Affairs, Geórgios Katroúgalos, discussed, Friday in Rabat, means to promote bilateral cooperation in several areas.


In a statement to MAP after the meeting, the Greek official expressed his country's willingness to strengthen ties between the two countries.

UNESCO will launch the regional project 'Youth Employment in the Mediterranean' (YEM) in collaboration with nine countries, including Morocco.

The project will support national and regional efforts over a three-year period (2018-2020), towards job creation and youth employment through the improvement of skills anticipation systems and the promotion of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) including digital skills, especially among women, UNESCO said in a release.

The ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation denied Wednesday that Morocco's decision to break off its diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran was taken under pressure from some countries.

"Following the rupture by the Kingdom of Morocco of its diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, some circles, in need of arguments, claimed that the Kingdom would have taken this decision under pressure from some countries," the ministry said in a statement. Marrakech: Morocco Signs Bilateral Agreements with Togo & Switzerland to Promote Diplomatic Mobility

Morocco signed, Wednesday in Marrakech, two bilateral agreements with Togo and Switzerland aimed at promoting diplomatic mobility.

The first agreement, signed by minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and Togolese minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration, Robert Dussey, aims to exempt holders of diplomatic, service or special passports from visa requirements.

In a statement to the press, Dussey highlighted the scope of the agreement, calling on Moroccan businessmen to invest more in his country.
