Morocco, Canada Discuss Means to Strengthen Cooperation in Area of Justice

Minister of Justice, Mohamed Aujjar, held talks on Tuesday in Ottawa with his Canadian counterpart, Jody Wilson-Raybould.

On this occasion, the two sides discussed the means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the area of justice and to fully implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the sidelines of the Marrakech International Conference on Justice, held last April in Marrakech, a statement by the Ministry of Justice said.

FM Receives Delegations of US Mayors

Foreign minister Nasser Bourita received, in Rabat on Wednesday, a delegation of mayors from five US cities who are on a visit to the Kingdom to explore ways to strengthen cooperation relations between Morocco and the United States, notably at the local level.

Led by Mayor of Rochester Hills (Michigan) Bryan Barnett, the US delegation, which is visiting Africa and Morocco for the first time, is made up of Mayor of Orlando (Florida) Buddy Dyer, Mayor of St. Petersburg (Florida) Rick Kriseman, Mayor of Findlay (Ohio) Lydia Mihalik, and Mayor of Thornton (Colorado) Heidi Williams.

Sahara Issue: Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies Unanimously Adopts Resolution in Support of Morocco’s Autonomy Plan

The Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies has unanimously adopted a resolution in support of Morocco’s autonomy plan in the Sahara region.

The resolution, which welcomes the initiative presented by Morocco and the spirit of openness displayed by the Kingdom as well as its serious and credible efforts aimed at reaching a political and acceptable solution to this regional dispute, notes that a solution based on realism and commitment will contribute to the stability and security of the region.

Arab Parliament Reiterates Support for Morocco Against Any Meddling in Domestic Affairs

Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mechaal Ben Fahm Al-Selmi reiterated, on Wednesday in Rabat, the body's support for Morocco against any meddling in its domestic affairs or threat to its sovereignty, security and stability.

Speaking at the opening of the 4th session of the Arab Parliament, Al-Selmi lauded efforts made by HM King Mohammed VI to back up joint Arab action and the role of the sovereign, in his capacity as chairman of the Al Quds Committee, in defending this holy city.

Lower House Speaker Represents HM the King at Inauguration Ceremony of New Costa Rican President

Speaker of the House of Representatives (lower house), Habib El Malki, represented HM King Mohammed VI, Tuesday in San Jose, at the official inauguration ceremony of new Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado.

After the ceremony, the Moroccan official was received at the headquarters of the National Theatre by the new Costa Rica's head of State.

During this audience, El Malki presented, on behalf of HM King Mohammed VI, to the elected Costa Rican President, his expressions of full success in his high office.

Palestinian PM Commends HM the King's Efforts to Defend Al-Quds

Palestinian Prime minister Rami Hamdallah praised, Tuesday in Ramallah, the efforts made by HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in defense of the holy city.

Hamdallah, who received Moroccan minister of Culture and Communication Mohamed Laaraj, also commended the depth of the distinguished relations between Morocco and Palestine, welcoming, in this regard, the positions expressed by the Kingdom at the various international fora in support of the Palestinian people to recover their legitimate rights.

Morocco's BCP, AfDB Ink 100 mln USD Agreement on Intra-African Trade

Morocco's BCP bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed on Tuesday a risk participation agreement worth 100 million US dollars to meet the growing demand by African markets for foreign trade financing.

This risk-sharing program, which is a first in the Moroccan banking sector, would make it possible to carry out an estimated 700 million US dollars in transactions over three years, the BCP said in a statement.

Antigua and Barbuda Reiterates Support for Morocco's Territorial Integrity

Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, reiterated on Tuesday in St. John's his country's support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Sahara.

"We support the territorial integrity of Morocco and its sovereignty over the Sahara region," he told MAP following talks with the Moroccan ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Abderrahim Kadmiri.

Browne also expressed his country's support for the UN Security Council's efforts aimed at reaching a negotiated and mutually acceptable solution to the issue.

The Cherry Blossom vessel, which was illegally seized in South Africa on May 1, 2017, has just departed South African territorial waters, and its cargo has been restored to its legitimate owner, the OCP Group.

Morocco’s autonomy plan represents “a basis for negotiation” to reach a final solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, said the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag).

In its annual report on the situation in the MENA region, the Committee recalls that the Sahara issue was inscribed by Morocco in the early 1960s on the UN list of territories to be decolonised.

It is indeed the first time that a Riksdag document refers to the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco.

Morocco, EU to Establish Twining Program in Support of Energy Sector

A seminar will be held, on Tuesday in Rabat, for the official launching of the Morocco-European Union (EU) twinning program, aimed at supporting Morocco's energy sector.

The 24-month twinning project (2018-2020), funded by the EU to the tune of 1,150,000 Euros, is part of the implementation of the program "Making a success of Advanced Status between Morocco and the EU," said a statement from the ministry of Energy, Mining and Sustainable Development.
