European Parliament Adopts by Overwhelming Majority Fisheries Agreement between Morocco & EU

The European Parliament adopted, on Tuesday in Strasbourg, by an overwhelming majority the new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU).

This vote is the last step of validation at European level before the adoption by the Moroccan Parliament and the entry into force of this agreement, which sets the conditions of access for the European fleet and provides for the requirements of sustainable fishing.

The official visit of the Spanish Sovereigns to Morocco, at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI, is "an important and distinguished event" that illustrates the "fraternal" relations binding the two Royal Families, said Spanish Interior minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

In an interview with MAP, Grande-Marlaska added that this is a visit to a "sister" country with which Spain shares a common history, as well as cultural, economic and political ties.

Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on Feb. 13-14, 2019, at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI, the ministry of royal household, protocol and chancellery announced on Monday in a statement.

Morocco is well on track to generate 42% of its electricity from renewable energies by 2020, US TV channel CNN pointed out in an article published Thursday on its website.

“The country is well on track to hit its target too with 35% of its energy is already renewable thanks to sites such as Noor Ouarzazate,” the source added, noting that it's not just on the track that “Morocco is aiming to become a world leader in renewable energy.”

As well as a host nation of a Formula ePrix, the country is also home to the world's largest concentrated solar farm, CNN said.

25th Casablanca International Book Fair Kicks off

HM King Mohammed VI chaired, Thursday at the royal Palace in Marrakech, a council of ministers, says a statement by spokesman of the royal Palace, Abdelhak Lamrini.

At the beginning of the Council's proceedings, HM the King was briefed by minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara, on the current fill rate of the kingdom's dams, compared to the same period of the previous year.
